The Matakana Village Pub

Built in 1903 in the heart of Matakana Village, The Pub is a bit of an institution. The original part of the building was built from the timber of a single kauri tree by the village post master. Following his death it became a boarding house for dairy factory workers. The growing township around it, transformed it into a restaurant of note in the 80’s run by a Frenchman. In 2012 it was taken over by three farming and city couples who upgraded the old girl into a community family friendly village pub. Now in the hands of a new group of enthusiastic owners since April 2016, they plan to continue on the traditions of the pub.
